Baptisms and Christenings

Exploring baptism

We would love to welcome you and your family as you explore Baptism in one of our four churches.

Baptism, also known as Christening, marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith in Jesus Christ and welcomes the person being baptised into the family of the Church.

For children, parents and godparents make promises to help them grow in the Christian faith. For adults and older children wishing to be baptised, we will gladly walk alongside you as you explore faith and prepare for Baptism.

What happens next?

Simply complete our Baptism Enquiry Form. One of our clergy will then contact you to arrange a conversation, explain the preparation and promises involved, and agree a suitable church and date.

Baptism is not simply about one special day. It is the beginning of a journey of faith, and we would love to share that journey with you.

Thanksgiving services

A Thanksgiving service is different from a christening. It’s a service giving thanks to God for a baby, and asking for His blessing and prayers, without the formal step of baptism. Families who aren’t ready for baptism, or simply want to mark a birth with a service of thanks, are welcome to ask about this instead.
